MMDA expands Electric Love Bus with new Metro Manila route
The electric Love Bus will begin operating on its expanded Metro Manila route starting Monday, with a new loop connecting Robinsons Galleria and Eastwood City. The expansion marks the first time the revived Love Bus service will run within a central business district corridor.
On March 3, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced the signing of a memorandum of agreement for the electric Love Bus program. The service will be operated in partnership with Global Electric Transport (GET) Philippines. Ten more Comet electric buses, each capable of carrying up to 30 passengers, will run daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the possibility of extending operations to 10 p.m. depending on passenger demand. The rides will remain free.
The new eastbound route will begin at Robinsons Galleria and proceed to Estancia Mall, the MMDA headquarters along Doña Julia Vargas Avenue, Arcovia, Opus Mall, Arcovia Mall, and Eastwood City. The westbound return loop will pass Eastwood City, the C5–Eastwood Footbridge, C5–Greenmeadows Footbridge, C5–Greenmeadows Gate, Tiendesitas, C5–Doña Julia Vargas Avenue, MMDA Doña Julia Vargas Avenue, Estancia Mall, and back to Robinsons Galleria. The alignment concentrates on high-traffic commercial and mixed-use zones along the Ortigas and C5 corridors.
GET Philippines president Freddie Tinga described the project as an example of government and private-sector collaboration in public mobility. He said the partnership aims to make public transport more appealing, safe, and environmentally responsible. The private-sector sponsors include Robinsons Land Corporation, Megaworld Corporation, Ortigas Land, and International Solid Waste Integrated Management Specialist.
MMDA chairman Atty. Romando Artes said the agreement represents a coordinated effort to improve daily commuting conditions. He stated that the electric buses are expected to help reduce roadside emissions, ease congestion along key corridors, and provide more comfortable rides for passengers.
The Love Bus was revived in 2025 with an initial route between Valenzuela Gateway Complex and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange. The 2026 expansion into the Ortigas–Eastwood corridor signals a shift toward serving dense commercial districts within Metro Manila’s core. Whether the program scales beyond the initial 10 units will depend on operational reliability, ridership levels, and the sustainability of the public-private funding model.
